To the Hoppers Crossing person asking about writer's notebook - as I'm not a classroom teacher this year, but have moved to junior support, your proposal isn't possible but, if you email me [email protected] I can answer any questions you have and even give you a ring - seeing as you're just down the road! I taught in Werribee for 3 years and have great memories of the place and the people.

Thanks so much Malissa - I love the 'before it all starts' time where the possibilities are endless, your time is still your own so it's no barrier to planning and you dream about the year ahead!

I was wondering where you purchased the clipboads you shared in your blog last year.

Hi Leah, I've got them from a few places, like K Mart and Officeworks and the Reject Shop. Sometimes even Safeway. I'm always on the lookout for cheap ones!!

I stumbled upon your website by chance looking for inspiration, and I found it in a BIG way!! Never have I found such a comprehensive teaching blog that had all of my needs met, from philosophy stand point, organization /room decor /logistics, and just down to the nut and bolts of how things run from day to day and minute to minute! I was especially touched by the love you have for students! Most teachers have an affinity for children, or they wouldn't subject themselves to all of the, "not fun stuff," that comes with the field, BUT, it is so comforting to know that across the world there is someone like me, here in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, who truly, deeply loves and cares about the nurturing the whole child! Kudos to you for your passionate dedication, talent, wisdom and just plain awesomeness!!!!! Thanks for giving me a spurt of joy and surge of purpose I was seeking to get prepared for the daunting challenge of moving schools and grade levels. Keep the faith and God bless as you go about uplifting and empowering lives !!

Hi Tammy, I've been sitting here for a while now, just wondering how on earth to reply to your comment - but I just can't do it justice. You've stunned me with the generosity of your words and there's no way I can thank you enough for them. Looks like you believe everything about teaching the same as I do - although I could never put it so eloquently!! It is daunting, moving schools because we care so much about what we do. Your new school may not yet even know how blessed they are are have you, but they will! Thank you again for the wonderful gift of your words, Marg.

I have been teaching French as a Second Language for English students for 90% of my teaching career and this is the first year I am teaching literacy. Lots has changed in teaching reading and writing and I have been out of the loop for a long time. You site is a frame work I can use to help immerse myself in the teaching strategies. You are my guardian e-angel. Thank you so much for making your knowledge and experience so transparent as I cannot afford to pay you for you teaching me through your site. Thank you again. In the spirit of life long learning and faith, Annette Cloutier

Thanks so much Merry! Are you finding it as different as I am? Completely changes my time that I don't have a 'class' of my own to set up and run. I've got more time to put into other more specific things and don't have to worry about roll taking, note collecting and parent interviews - and let's not even mention the R word (reports!!). Trying to be as helpful as possible to the teachers who do have all this to do so if I can take any jobs off their shoulders I'm up for it. Plus I love working with individuals and small groups. Thanks for commenting! Marg.

Yes indeed Marg. I find I am multitasking less so, can really concentrate. I don't miss the roll, collecting money, preparing for parent teacher meetings etc. But I do miss 'the buzz' and dynamics of a large group (when things are going well. I don't miss the 'crowd control', art and creative writing. Thanks again for all your helpful resources. I am doing a lot of work on Asking questions using Blooms and using Graphic Organizers to encourage thinking skills. I With every good wish, Merry
