Genre Powerpoints

We use these on the smartboard and we also keep them on the student server so kids can access them easily.

Genre Writing Plans

We keep laminated copies of these available for students to use as a guide for planning their writing. They're not meant to be 'filled out'. Rather, they give students some starting points for planning with features particular to each genre.

Writing Frameworks

Students sometimes have difficulty setting out their writing and these frameworks give some help with that.  Again, not meant as a worksheet to be filled in, but as a guide to show what each genre looks like.  The frameworks also contain the features of each particular genre and some tips about the language students should be using.  Laminated copies are kept in a tub for students to 'grab and go'.

Writing Assessment

We get the students to staple one of these on to the front of their writing piece.  We usually use the general one which has space for self assessment, peer assessment and teacher assessment.

How this all fits into our use of Writers' Notebooks and our classroom writing procedures is outlined in the powerpoint 'The Story of Our Writing' which is HERE.   The conferencing set up I use is HERE and the i-pen I use for giving kids feedback is HERE.
