Names
Names are powerful when you're trying to embed a sense of belonging. Having students see their names on the first day - around the room, on books, on tubs, in display - gives a immediate visual cue that this is their classroom and they are valued. It's nice for parents dropping their kids off on the first day to see this too.

I like using Word Art with textured fillings or backgrounds so the kids can create their own nameplates and labels.
