Teacher Desk
Back in the Classroom in 2016 and the wonderful room I'm in has no cupboards - not a one! But it does have this little nookie type alcove under the stairs which has traditionally been used to store junk. Now it's my domain!!! And I've fitted it out with some cheap-o shelves to store all my bits and pieces. And set up a teacher's table with all the necessities!
Some teachers can go without 'em. Some teachers can't. I'm the latter, mainly because you've just got to have somewhere to put all the STUFF! But I've gotten better over the years at keeping it tidy and organized and a 'portal' that improves my teaching rather than impeding it.
I also believe that if you have another teacher working in your room eg. part-time, they need a home base too.

Filing
Having somewhere to immediately put all the bits and pieces classroom teachers are constantly getting from kids, parents, other teachers and adminstration gets rid of that daunting pile of paperwork on the desk.
Preparing a place to file things before you start really helps. Desktopper, filing cabinet, doesn't matter as long as it's set up ready to go.
