Individual Strategies
Behaviour Strategy Overwhelmed Card
Laminated card personalized for student to carry with them at lunchtime. Student could show to any teacher and they'd know what the situation was even if they didn't know the child very well. Behaviour Strategy Telling t Teacher Cards
Reminder ring for a student who was always 'dobbing'. Effective and not needed for very long. |
Behaviour Strategy Help Cards
A ring of strategy cards worked on with a child whose biggest blocker was expressing himself verbally. Just knowing these were in his pocket helped. Behaviour Tracker Diary 6
This one allowed for student input and the notes section below enabled me to put in quick description of incidents. Specialist teachers were asked to contribute as well so variations could be tracked and so that the student knew that we were all on the same page. Very effective visual for parents too. <<<<
The 'goals' version got very specific about the actions we wished to improve. It also really puts the responsibility on the child and makes them accountable. All of these are an effort to set up and remember to fill in but I've learnt that the effort is worth it if you're going to get less behavioural issues you need to deal with. More time teaching and having fun! |
Behaviour Tracker Diary 2
For targeting specific behaviours. Notice 3 out of 4 are positive behaviours we wanted to encourage.

Behaviour Tracker Diary 4
This was used for tracking when a student was having meltdowns so we could try and work out any recurring patterns. Really good for kids on the autism spectrum. I used red, orange, green colour coding so I could also track the good days, not just the meltdown ones, to look for those patterns too. In one case it became obvious that afternoons were a problem so strategies to allow for prevention measures were put in place. (Eg, time away with an audio story, extra rest time, retreat to a quiet area, and in severe cases, an early finish.) Tracking then continued to gauge improvement.

Behaviour Strategy Positive Turnarounds
Used sparingly, these cards can help a child with a negative mindset to work on a goal at a time.
Some of them are good for general class reminders as well.
